EOS Studio is an integrated graphical environment for design,
development, testing, and deployment. EOS Studio organizes
development around projects, and provides wizards, perspectives,
and editors, complete with team development features. The
development part of EOS Workflow, EOS RichWeb, and EOS Report all
live within EOS Studio as sub-environments. For JEE development,
EOS Studio is the only tool you need.
EOS Studio organizes functionalities into perspectives:
Wizard Perspective
Guide users through creation and parameter setting of projects, packages, and components. It helps you accomplish most of the application infrastructure generation work, so you can focus attention on the creative parts.
Development Perspective
The workbench of component composition. Different types of components are represented with different icons. Program flow is represented with directed lines. Component attributes setting and data passing between components are specified in pop-up dialog boxes. You can also write Java code for atomic components.
Debugging Perspective
EOS Studio provides powerful debugging capabilities. Besides normal full-program testing, EOS Developers can also test individual components. He can define multiple sets of test data for component-only test.
EOS Studio allows developers to set break points, step into, step over, and resume, on component level. EOS Studio provides multiple ways of examining data during test process.
EOS Studio provides hot-deployment capability for testing. That is, change made during testing become effective immediately.
Project Management Perspective
EOS Studio integrates CVS into its environment to provide version management capability for project files and source code. When project manager submit a new project to the CVS server, developers can check out the project to their local EOS Studio.
This perspective also provides tools for component management,
which provides functions such as checking in and out,
classification, search and version control. EOS Studio also
provides powerful document-generation capability, which includes
documentation for project, component, and component interface, and
dependency between components. The document-generation capability
can replace traditional project detailed design documents and avoid
the difficulty of synchronizing code and documentation.
Project Management Perspective offers strong support for team
development with functions such as version control, source code
compilation, and integrated testing, deployment, code import and
export. All these are essential for large enterprise applications.
Configuration Perspective
Software developers can configure server and data resources for
development process, under EOS Studio Startup Menu. A project team
can greatly improve development efficiency and software quality by
customizing all project templates at initial design stage.
Generic Utilities Perspective
EOS Studio provides productivity tools such as resource search,
code reformat, code compilation. Since EOS Studio in built on top
of Eclipse, all Eclipse functionalities, such as code hint,
view-switching, Java-development, etc., are also available.
